Kathy Barnes

Kathy lives in Newaygo with her husband Jim. They are the parents of six children and the proud grandparents of 15 grandchildren.Â
Kathy has lived a life of service with various non-profits. From the time she was in school, she was active in the Blue Bird/ Campfire Girl organization and the Y-Teens. While she was raising her family, she held seats on various boards such as the local band boosters and as a director on the credit union board. After her family grew up and left the nest, she became active in the military mother’s group, Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. eventually serving as the Department President for the state of Michigan and holding a seat on the national board. It was because of her activity in BSMA, that she became active as a volunteer with MMHF, starting with the inaugural flight in 2014.
In 2018 Kathy joined the board of directors holding the office of recording secretary and is currently the vice president. She is the proud mother of two combat Veterans. Her oldest son served as AO with Naval Air Squadron, VFA 22 seeing action in the Persian Gulf. Her youngest son was a Cavalry Scout with the 10th Cavalry, deploying to Afghanistan.
